Metadata Administration

If your catalog is not correctly identified, royalties cannot find you. Metadata is not a back-office detail — it is the foundation of your income.

What Our Metadata Service Covers

Standard Identifier Administration

We administer the complete range of music industry standard identifiers — ISRC, ISWC, IPI, ISNI, UPC, and more — ensuring every asset in your catalog is correctly registered, tracked, and attributed across DSPs, collection societies, and rights databases worldwide.

Catalog Completeness & Accuracy

Every asset in your catalog is only as valuable as the data behind it. We audit, correct, and maintain the completeness and accuracy of your entire catalog — ensuring every work, recording, and rights holder is correctly registered and positioned to generate the revenue it is owed.

DDEX Compliance

We ensure all release metadata conforms to DDEX standards — the industry specification for digital supply chain data — minimising rejection rates and delivery delays at every major DSP and distribution partner.

Catalog Remediation

If your existing catalog has metadata errors, missing codes, or incorrect writer credits, we conduct a full audit and correct the records at source across all platforms and databases — recovering royalties that errors have been blocking.

How It Works

  1. 01

    Catalog Audit

We begin with a comprehensive audit of your existing catalog — identifying every registered and unregistered work, flagging missing or incorrect identifiers, and mapping the full scope of what needs to be corrected or registered.

  2. 02

    Identifier Issuance & Registration

We issue and register all required identifiers — ISRC codes for recordings, ISWC codes for compositions, UPC codes for releases — and enter them correctly into every relevant database and registry.

  3. 03

    Platform & Society Updates

We update your catalog records across all major DSPs and collection societies to reflect the corrected metadata. For live releases, this means retroactively correcting errors that may have been blocking royalty collection.

  4. 04

    Ongoing Maintenance

As you release new music, we maintain your metadata standards from the outset — ensuring every new recording and composition is correctly documented before it ever reaches a platform.

Metadata Administration — Common Questions

What is an ISRC code and why does my music need one?+

An ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is the unique identifier for each of your sound recordings — the digital equivalent of a barcode for your music. Every track needs an ISRC to be correctly tracked across streaming platforms, radio monitoring systems, and collection societies. Without one, royalties attributed to your recording cannot reliably find their way to you. We handle ISRC issuance and registration as part of our standard metadata administration.

What is the difference between an ISRC and an ISWC?+

An ISRC identifies a specific sound recording (a particular studio take or version of a song). An ISWC (International Standard Musical Work Code) identifies the underlying musical composition — the song itself, including its lyrics and melody. Both are essential for comprehensive royalty collection. A single composition (one ISWC) can have many recordings (multiple ISRCs).

What is DDEX compliance and does it matter?+

DDEX is the global standard for digital supply chain data — the specification that governs how release information is formatted and exchanged between distributors, DSPs, and collection societies. Non-compliant metadata results in rejected deliveries, delayed releases, and missed royalties. We ensure all releases conform to current DDEX standards before delivery.

Can you fix metadata errors on releases that are already live?+

Yes. Catalog remediation is a core part of our metadata administration service. We audit your existing catalog, identify errors and omissions, and correct the records at source — updating information across platforms and databases. The sooner errors are corrected, the sooner royalties can start flowing correctly.

How do I know if my catalog has metadata problems?+

Common signs include royalty statements that look lower than expected, tracks appearing under the wrong artist name on DSPs, missing songwriter credits, or releases that were rejected by platforms. Our free Catalog Assessment is designed to identify exactly these kinds of issues — fill it in and we'll tell you where you stand.
